Just a note on the situation with tints, if you have the front windows tinted, your car could legally be un-roadworthy. There basically isn't any tint that meets the legal opacity limits, therfore, if you have front tints, your car is un-roadworty in the eyes of the law, therefore your insurance is technically invalid. Thats why BMW don't tint the front windows.

I'm 26 with 6 points (motorway speeding), Cooper S, dodgy postcode, parked in street and with loadsa options. 5 years no claims and for 10000 miles pa. http://www.greenlightinsurance.com/greenlightmotorquote. are charging me £970. They even cover for track days and can cover for engine modifications and cosmetic mods.

JCW insurance Has anyone tried to get a quote to add the JCW kit to an MCS? According to EVO I'm looking at Group 19 for my efforts! The kit's expensive enough without a monster premium - can anyone give me an idea?

screentrade.co.uk just quoted me 8093.27! ! I take it this means 'go away we dont wanna know'? This was for a standard MCS. Im 24 living in completely crime free town (1 car stolen in a year and it was recovered!) with private residential parking. Only got a year's NCB but christ that is unreal.Any UK lads of similar age and only a year's NCB that can point me in some other directions? I dont expect sub-£1000 but hope for less than £1500. The annoying thing is I can afford the JCW kit and would get it if insurance wasnt such an issue. Cheers...

Yep, i'm 29, 1 yr ncd no points and no accidents but only been driving 2 years (ah city life) - £349 for my current cooper with tescos. SO....... I ordered a 2004 jcw mcs for december and got a quote from tescos for £1100 - not bad considering my alleged experience. HOWEVER, then some **** pulled out in front of me , ran me into a park car and drove off ; lost the ncd, accident deemed my fault as no one else around and new qoute is...£2100!!!!!! AAAAAAGH! if ever catch that spotty little @#$%&$ in his baseball cap and blue nova I'll...... Anyway, you cant take it with you so you might as well spend it i say so i have kept the order in.

I phoned TESCOS, 2003 Cooper S Chilli pack age 32 company director, wife 31 school teacher, 9 years no claims, no points, on Driveway, DE56, only 6,000miles, not protected 5% discount for starting the process online but had to phone as 'S' was showing up as Cooper Auto (not S) rigorously enforced the fact that it was an S as this problem has come up before PRICE: £244.65 BRILLIANT (ps, are you sure that's for a Supercharged 'S' ... yes sir it is) HOWEVER, documents came through as Cooper Auto (not S) when I phoned back they said OH, that's another £200 please! MCS, DS/B, 17's, Skirts, Xenons, fogs, Privacy, White lights, Leather, Climate, Heated screen, 6 CD, Multi S/Wheel, Cruise, DSC, OBC, head bags ... think that's about it

Liverpool Victoria actually have the MCS Works on their "standard" list of cars - as a result it's all quick and easy and relatively cheap. We went with them when the brokers I use for our other cars said they would call us back. Right! ![]()

27yr old + 30 yr old other half, 4yrs NCB (Protected), MCS Works, Value £23,500, Garaged in average postcode (North East England), 12,000 miles p.a, no points etc, insured with AXA for approx £750 p.a - and AXA actually replace the car for its FULL value during the first year or FULL value minus depreciation after that (unlike some other theiving ins co's I've read about who have replaced £22K MINI's with £14.5K MINI's!!)

I've got my JCW MCS coming in January - I was only going to get one if I could afford the insurance i.e. if it was under £1,000. First 5 or 6 quotes were all over £1500 (thoughts and dreams of having my mini works were fading..) until I got one from Mini Cover for £719!!!!!! wiping nearly half off all previous quotes. I am 28, girl, east london postcode, kept in driveway, no points/convictions, and 6 years no claims, boyfriend on insurance (not that he'll be driving it ever!!!). If you've got a lot of things in your favour (i.e. no claims discount, no convictions) then you can get a decent quote. Other decent-ish quote I got was from Its4me.co.uk - specialising in young people with performance/sports cars. Good Luck!!!
