One thing i would suggest is having a look at this thread :MINI2 Forums > MINI2 > GENERAL DISCUSSION > ELEPHANT.co.uk insurance warning

Basically - there are brokers/underwriters who will in the event of an accident will only re-supply you with a base model replacement - i.e no chilli pack, etc, etc.. - make sure you are covered, read the policy and if you have any queries at all call your broker. If you want to cancell, and if your broker is a member of the GISC - you have a right to cancell (it's called a cooling off period) without charge (i think).

You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off !!

Try www.confused.com - enter your details once and the system will search the leading insurers. You will have to contact the cheapest companies individually to declare modifications because apparently that's what the Chilli pack is but for a 23yr old with 1 years NCD and 3 pts my insurance on a Cooper was £650 (incl business use).

Anyone tried Direct Line?
36, full no claims, protected, tints, spots, chilli Pack - £507 fully comp!!!! S' Works would be an extra £98.
Not found anyone who can beat this.

Hyper Blue/Black Cooper. Side skirts/Aero grill, Milltek, chrome bitz and a scary roof graphic.

Just tried them - I'm 28, full no claims, no convictions etc - best they could do for a cooper s works was £1072.05.

Sound like the age difference is the key factor here. How does that compare to other quotes?
My premium actually dropped this year, maybe a postcode lottery kinda thing going on?
Have you tried Liverpool Victoria?

25, no NCB, No points or convictions, Trainee Solicitor. Insured with AXA...... £1,064 and they recognise Chilli Pack and other extras and have assured me in the unfortunate event of anything happening they will replace to the spec of previous car. In otherwords if I damage one of my 17" wheels they will replace it with same. Excess not too bad... £225.

All in all very impressed with service and as a bonus they sponser the FA Cup!

No Jasonfields007. I have been a named driver since I went to Uni. Before that I had 2 years NCB but after three years insurance companies will not recognise it.
I was disappointed with Direct Line. They would not quote me because I didn't have 2 years NCB or more. I would take issue with this as they do not advertise this requirement!

i see... direct line wouldn't insure me on my cooper as i'm a new driver. min age 19 and 1 years driving with full UK licence! mini insurance will and they use UKI which are the same underwriters as direct line. direct line do tend to play it safe though!
