Offline | MCS Insurance in the UK Just wondering how everyone in the UK is finding insurance prices. I know it depends on a load of things but check this out: 32years old, no claims, full no bonus, company director, 6,000 miles a year, wife insured, married Fully Comp, Derby postcode, garagedDirect Line: £391 Elephant: £381 Churchill: £346 NorwichUnion: £275 Now the guy on the phone at Norwich Union said that it was cheap because the system knew I already had a policy with them (on my classic Cooper) so I got a discount? But I was concerned that the system showed the car as 2003 BMW MINI COOPER AUTO !! - I checked with him and he changed it to manual S and the price remained the same. That is cheaper than my J reg Mazda MX3 1.6 Auto (group 12), which is DEAD slow! I Can't believe it |

Offline | I'm with Tesco & have nearly identical vital stats like you. They came in at £290 - but they do specify the Chili pack on the MCS - so it might be worth giving them a shout!!. |

| AWOL | they seem great prices to me, I paid £690 for my S.... thats 29, 12 years NCD, zero points or accidents ever, garaged, 20k miles a year, but a slightly dodgy postcode !!.... unfortunatley Cleveland was car crime capital of England a few years back, its much better now but we still pay the price !!!! Offline | I currentley pay £570 - 9 points for speeding max no claims but with a £450 excess, wheels declared (and I can add an exhaust and lower it without it effecting the premium) I'm 31, male and live down near southampton the cars garaged at night (didn't make any difference to the price) and I am covered for bussines use. J. Not married, not blonde! Just a guy with a poor taste in user names. |

Offline | Just renewed my Insurance today, 39, male, 9yrs ncd, 3 points speeding. £472.00 ncd protected with the Halifax (bank), sounds expensive to me, but Direct line etc wanted between 100 to 200 more, so I snatched the hands of the halifax, truth to be told, I got fed up calling around after the 7th or 8th Insurance company. |

Offline | Same price for an automatic Cooper and a Cooper S! That surprises me as we're talking about a group 8 to a group 15 jump. I'd check he hasn't got it down as a standard Cooper - if he doesn't know about the MINI, he may not appreciate what a difference that one letter makes ![]() This is the self-preservation society |

| Yeah...I know !!! | I ve had a few online quotes which when you put in your regerstration comes up with an auto cooper , did it with mine and I have a Cooper S . Have to be careful I randg them up about on and they amended it and it came to almost double the price . I think ther must be a fault somewere cos someone else mentioned this before and you could be driving around with the wrong insurance cover , even though its not your fault but the insurance companies mistake ![]() |
