| Still kickin' along | Yes....The only thing I haven't confirmed yet is if I can get coverage on an agreed value.... Fingers crossed! Brokers could be a good option too. For some this quote might not be so special, however my driving history dosen't help me when shopping around.... What I do know for sure is that shopping around for insurance can only mean that the time is approaching rapidly for my mini to arrive!!! ![]() |

Offline | i know it'd be an odd interpretation of the situation, but it might be worth asking what the cost upon renewal will be [at today's rates]... maybe they're just transfering your current cover, but will reassess mid-year!? either way, you're still saving $$ now, so meh! |

Offline | [quote=miggs2002] AAMI will no longer insure Mini Cooper S owners under 30 they told me the otherday when I rang them as I had them before on the Cooper. As apparently when us young people crash them it is usually big time. I told them it has 125 kw less than a Falcon but still no go. So if your with AAMI just be carefull next time you do your renewal. But yeah I went through a Car broker and saved me a few quid. ![]() 1968 Mk1 Morris Cooper S 1310cc Downton Lake Green - White 1974 Leyland Mini 1098c Country Cream 2008 MINI Cooper S Chilli Pepper White - Black Roof |

Offline | It sounds far to good to be true... i would seriously want to look a the fine print to see what you are covered for... and if you have a choice of repairer... and if they give lifetime repair warranties on repairs... Cheap insurance is attainable anywhere.. Good insurance is something you have to pay for. mind you when i turned 31 my insurance dropped from $1200 to just under 1000 thats with all my mods. Still with the NRMA. |

| Still kickin' along | Didn't you know? People under the age of 40 aren't allowed to be enthusiasts....we're just a 'nuisance'.... I lived in Manitoba, Canada all of 2003 with some friends. We used to refer to it as the communist province of Manitoba because of the way the government managed everything. Anyway....everything was back-wards...you insured the car, and got roadside assistance for the person....all very strange.....and the only car insurance available was through the Manitoban equivalent of the RTA or Vic roads.....! And it was cheap as dirt. A funny side story: A mate of mine, when we arrived, bought a car for CAD$1. It was an absolute bucket, but it managed to work in the -25degree winters...we had an accident in it where he slid side-ways on the ice into a Manitoba Hydro truck and the car was written off (there was 5 people in it, plus 1 dude in the boot - in a car the size of an excel)....no-one was hurt and he walked away with CAD$1000 for the payout! ...winner! |

| Still kickin' along | Yeah! someone even had the foresight to jump out and take a photo of him as he was trying to climb out! I have it here somewhere....hmmm.... haha... we were extremely lucky no-one was hurt.... our collective group of four people had 6 accidents (mostly minor) among us in the first 5 weeks....Aussies and roads covered in 4 inches of packed down ice and snow don't mix! Our Canandian friends thought it was all very amusing... |

Offline | It's not too good to be true at all - I believe it it's just a standard fleet insurance policy price. Back in the day when I leased my Audi A3 through Leaseplan, I was rather young (20) and had it insured for $750 a year. The premiums were $750 a year for cars under $50k, and $900 a year for cars over $50k. Any car - no exceptions. Unfortunately such blanket fleet insurance policies are becoming rarer and rarer these days, most probably for obvious reasons... Unfortunately a change in my employment circumstances meant that I had to use a different fleet company to lease my Cooper S and they didn't provide such a blanket policy So I'm paying thousands a year for insurance, like the rest of us "kids"However, the thing that confuses me is that they are offering a policy to you even though they aren't managing the lease of your vehicle?! What's all that about? |

| 02-OXY | I've just paid my fully comp insurance with a Rating one for life with AAMI and it cost me $514 for the year.. That for a MCS with sunroof and leather... I'm 33 and amazingly enough haven't lost my license since 1988... I also haven't written off a car since then either. ![]() Here's a tip. Lower your Premium with AAMI by asking them about increasing your excess. I also had an agreed price of $50k or replacement new car for 2 years, $2k more than what I paid for the car, just to cover the excess too.. |
