Tyre Insurance

I read somewhere about tyre insurance provided by a mini dealer £100 for 2 years with max of 5 tyres cover. Sounds good value if 17" runflats are £200 a pop
Does anybody know more about this ie which dealer and who underwrites this- maybe all mini dealers should provide this

I've vaguely heard of this offer through MINI dealers but am not sure if it's available or not.

Sometimes some tyre manufacturers or distributors offer this, but be wary of the offer. One of the fundamental terms of the offer is that they'll only pay for the tread that's left - ie. if your tyre is 50% worn then you pay half towards a new tyre. If your tyre is at the legal minimum 1.6mm then they pay a big fat zilch! In effect you're paying to insure the remaining tread on the tyre.

Here's the details:

For 24 months from the date of the purchase or until each tyre is below the legal limit at any part of the tyre circumference, whichever occurs first.

Single payment of £99.00 provides:
- Roadside assistance (related to tyres) not exceeding
£25.00.
- £250 claim limit per tyre.
- Includes fitting balancing and a new valve.
- Cover is for all tyres for the duration of the policy.

Punctures
- Refund the cost of repairing your tyre including
balancing.

Kerbed Tyres
- Refund the cost of replacing your accidentally damaged
tyre.

Damaged Tyres
- Refund the cost of replacing your maliciously damaged
tyre.
