Is mini select hire purchase?

Woo hoo my car comes on monday (very first motor ) and am starting to get my head round all this insurance gubbins.

Just got my insurance forms thought today and it mentions that it doesn't cover cars under a hire purchase aggreement. I guess it's where you're not the owner of the car. I'm planing to get the car on Mini Select. Is this HP and will it play havoc with the insurance?

Thanks for any help you can give. I hope i've not waited 4 months to be scuppered at the final leg

No , and Yes, technically its a lease, or maybe a LEECE () agreeement, in that you pay a monthly fee to drive the car as if it were your own but you hand it back at the end of a given period, or you decide to keep it and pay the balance(MAYBE ON HP). Basically you are safe on the insurance

I think MINI Select can be either a HP or Personal Leasing scheme.

Your car is definitely covered even when purchased with HP. I think you might be confusing the clause that allows you to drive other cars with third party cover. Your documents should say something like:

"Driving Other Cars: This entitles the Policyholder only to drive a vehicle not belonging to, or hired to him/her under a hire purchase agreement.. Cover for that vehicle is Third Party Only . Damage to it is not covered."

It's a benefit of comprehensive cover that you get 3rd party cover for driving other cars apart from your Insured Vehicle.

Nowt to worry about.

There is just one moon and one golden sun; And a smile mean friendship to ev'ryone; Through the mountains divide, and the oceans are wide; It's a small world after all.
