I managed to get £394 for MCS with maximum noc-claims discount (age 45) with wife as 2nd driver (age 31) and my wife had a recent 3 points for speeding in her Mini Cooper...

Give them a go and let us know how you get on....oh and I think thy don't do the Works if you are thinking of this as an option (they said it was not on their list).

Hope this helps...

Have you tried MINI's own insurance, it can be very competitive in many cases.

Adrian Flux gave some good quotes on a well modified classic , 1400cc, 14" Wheels, BIg Bore , springs, brakes , deseamed etc etc. They offered good rates on a Mini Cooper with JC Upgrade too.

Axa Insurance was £120 cheaper than any other insurer at £473 for two 29 year old drivers with full protected no claims. Mini insurance was over £700!! This was for a new cooper s.

personally i would check some the threads re insurance on here first. u only pay for what u get. quite a few insurers (cant recall all of them) dont pay out any more than on a standard MINI. so if u chilli then u arent covered. check the small print. i know BMW/MINI insurance is more expensive, but it inspires confidence... thats the way i went.

Pleased to say that after over month of ringing-around, getting quotes of upto £900, I've just taken-up a policy with AXA Direct, for £498!! That's for myself and my wife, both 29, with no claims/penalties, on an MCS, value £17K. I've got 6 yrs NCD which obviously helps, but I'd recommend them to everyone!

And, they also cover all factory/dealer options, so there's no problem with speccing CHILI, etc.
Give 'em a go - 0800 328 6354.

Apparently there's an extra 5% disc. to be had on-line, though when I tried it told me they couldn't quote for me - guess this because I clicked to 'Yes' the car is modified from the basic spec...

I'm with AXA too. Can't remember what the premium is. AXA are one of the few companies that allow protected No-Claims after only 3 years. Very worthwhile IMHO. As an aside AXA were one of the worst performing Insurers for answering claims calls. Let's just hope we never have to call them.

It was in most of the national newspapers about a month or two ago. The researchers called, emailed and wrote to Insurers to test their claims departments. Some companies such as More Than (Royal Sun Alliance) answered their phones within seconds whereas AXA took about 18-20 minutes. I think the worst company took over 40 minutes.
