Are Liverpool Victoria mods friendly?

Advice from existing LV policy holders required please

I'm in the middle of getting new quote for my RX8
Cheapest is Elephant but I'm not to happy about the cover and LV is 10% more at £778, but I need to know in the case of a "write off" are all the factory fitted options covered. Elephant will not cover for my leather seats or SatNav

Clarification of this would be great as I couldn't find detailed Ts&Cs on their website.

Right managed to clarify the policy with them and the factory fit options are covered

That's over £300 saved over esure

I'm switching from BMW to Liverpool Victoria come renewal as they're £500 cheaper than BMW, cover all my mods and extras, include European cover, and will cover any "non timed" track days/events.

Actually, am a bit disappointed with LV, the company that took over the insurer for whom I worked as a motor claims guy quite some time ago.

It's not a "bucket shop". Top quality IMO. And it's only up the road.....(But)

When I moved into a flat with a gated, 24hr CCTV protected joined on parking block (to which it is impossible for the public to get access without a dogtag), they charged me on the same basis as if the MINI was being kept out in the street overnight - perhaps even outside the choice pubs that aren't far away.

The garage at the former address was broken into twice. Car undamaged. Kids, I guess, taking silly stuff.

Don't know whether all insurers have this view. Will certainly find out when renewal crops up. But IMO this is illogical.

(It's that old argument, isn't it? Most people maintain that a modification can only happen after the car leaves the factory. But, nowadays insurers take different views on that one).

I've just been told by my insurer (AXA) that if I get a BBR 220 kit fitted they will not insure me any more. I paid £474 for my insurance with them. Liverpool Victoria have quoted me £538.66 today and the bloke on the phone said that it was the same price for a standard cooperS and the modified 220HP cooper S. Seems too good to be true!!!! I hope not.

They're very good. I was told just keep the receipts and take photos too of any mods you do (especially keep proof of purchase) and they'll cover it. If it's "extreme" or you're just unsure, give them a bell before you do it.
