I'm currently with Direct Line but my premium has gone up by over £300 due to adding wheels and getting my car lowered. Even though to buy the S Spokes cost the same as my aftermarket wheels, they've put up my insurance by £240 a year. To add insult to injury after first telling me that the springs won't cost any extra, when I phoned up to accept the quote they'd changed their tune. It's now costing a extra £20. Not a fortune but it bloodly annoyed me.
I've been on Liverpool Victoria's web site and in standard Works form they quoted a very good rate.
Has anyone who's with Liverpool Victoria added mods to their car? i.e Wheels
i was with liverpool victoria with my old car (wouldnt insure me on the mini til i was 25) and they were brilliant as far as mods were concerned. they told me that i didnt even have to inform the of any whether they be cosmetic or performance. aslong as i had proof of purchase or photographic evidence they would be covered. even phoned up again to here it from another person just to make sure.
I agree - the Works is listed on their standard MINI versions list - and didn't want any info on manufacturer added extras.
We went with them with our Works - haven't had a crash so can't say how well they do on claims - but I went to them because of recommendations for other MINI2 users. It was nice not to have an insurer freak out upon hearing the words "engine upgrade"!
I'd be surprised if they have a problem with aftermarket alloys
I'm insured with Liverpool Victoria and they told me when I took the insurance out the only modifications I had to advise them of, was if it affected the CC of the car. Seemed a little crazy to me and I did check a couple of times, by calling back and speaking to different people, and got told the same thing several times.
I will write and confirm every mod and keep proof of purchase with anything I do to mine.
I also find them so easy to deal with - really nice, helpful, friendly people How many times can you say that about insurance companies??
I know - When I came across them it sounded like a miracle
Hope it all works out.
Another Mini2'er has just signed up with Liverpool Vic - Hobzy. Maybe worth sounding him out as I think he's insured for trackday use as well if memory serves me right - again no problems as far as I recall.
When I was looking round for quotations when my insurance was due in April I contacted Liverpool Victoria but they were not interested as I have "enhanced performance" via Superchip.
I was already with Direct Line and could not get any better quotes- the nearest was with MINI Insurance but this was an extra £40.
Yep, they said that as long as the event was not timed or racing, then i was still insured. However damage to other cars caused by me would not be, understandably. They were excellent, quick, friendly and gave me an intro discount. I have no no claims, 3 years driving exp and 30 years alive (just). The wifes on it too and shes only 25. Price? £1466
wish i was still with them. just phoned tesco's (my current insurer) and they want an extra £380 if i get a 220bhp upgrade. tried to tell them it was just an exhaust and re-map but they go by the % in power increase. highest category they have is 21-30% increase which i think would apply.
cant believe i'm forking out all this money and the car's insured in my mums name!! i must be stupid!!
