Picking up Cooper S on 1st September, 54 plate ...

The dealer requested that I insure the vehicle from 31st August and get the cover note sent directly to them so that they are able to register the car on that day. They say they cannot register the vehicle without an active cover note.

The insurance company will not allow my insurance cover to start before the date of first registration (1st September). However, they also told me that a new vehicle can be registered with a cover note up to 7 days prior to the insurance commencing.

Anyone know who's right ??

Your car can be insured as of 12.01midnight 1/9/04.

It sounds like the dealer does'nt want to run around getting the car registered and taxed on the same day.

My car's had its registration since Monday, and I only setup the insurance this morning, and mine is to be registered as a '54' plate too.
