Offline | I just got off the phone with my insurance agent. Wow!! 2003 MINI Cooper S insurance will only be about $50. a year MORE than my 2001 Porshe. I couldn't believe it given the price difference of the two cars. It appears to me to be due to the MINI's listing under BMW. From what I understood, BMW has a high loss ratio. ie- BMWs are more frequently in accidents than Porshes. Didn't BMW want to separate themselves from MINI? (please) ![]() |

Offline | I checked with my company a week ago and had a firm quote of $550 a year, state will want another $210 for the plates. Actually right in the ball park, I can live with the numbers. My plates are due just about when the S can be picked up, I asked and PaulM said ok...if you see an EB S with Iowa plates that say MINI2, thats me!! Offline | Thanks Mike My quote was around $1300 a year. Location could explain some of the differences. Did your insurance company have the MINI Cooper S listed as a BMW? Would be interesting to know if all US insurance companies list it that way. It doesn't seem fair to our MINIs to be listed under cars with high loss ratios. What do you think? |

Offline | Both the Ins co and the state list under BMW. Go Figure. Is Jaguar under Ford?? Location is part of the advantage I have, I am also 50 and it is nice to know that age helps. Offline | I wont tell I bet your AARP card has a lower # than mine, right? I guess that proves the location theory. Mike ![]() Semper Fi Electric Blue/White roof Sport package stripes, lights, born 29 Mar 02 delivered 17 May 02, 1 pm CST in STL USA, 1st S in Iowa |

Good!! Glad to hear it. When I called, it was listed as MINI Cooper but under BMW. Therefore, assigned BMW's loss ratio. |
