Mod friendly insurers for young drivers on Mini's?

Hello,

I'm going to be getting a brand new Mini Cooper in the not too distant future and i've been having a look around for insurance quotes. I'm currently with Norwich Union with my Polo 16v, and they're not the best with regards to mods.

NU have quoted me £1170 for me as main driver (18 years old), for a Mini Cooper, Chilli pack and Aero kit, with my Mum and Sister also insured. I think that's quite good for the car itself, but I am planning to mod it, in particular aftermarket alloys. I can't see them taking too kindly given my age and the type of car.

So basically i'm looking for suggestions from people who have been in similar circumstances on what insurers they would recommend?

Any suggestions and recommendations welcome.

DONT goto direct line!!

They have a new policy of not insuring modified cars if your under 25. I called them the other day to get my other car insure and they were all difficult about it. but the underwriters said yes for this time, but next time i would be refussed! What a bunch of............

Adrian Flux refused me on the basis of age, apparently you have to be 25, and I'm 22

No...don't go there, they have changed their policies....NO MODS. they used to be the best but they have lost the plot..

Right so let me get this right...... we're totally screwed really!!

Any good ideas anyone? I'm totally ****ed off to be honest with the whole insurance company crap in this country! So I have 4 years no claims.... but as soon as I turn 25 i'll wake up a better and safer driver. Yeah, makes sense! NOT!
