mini.co.uk can now give you a quote on the S. It will ask you to choose between the One and the Cooper, choose Cooper, then it will give you a choice for the S.

Or you can phone them on 0870 0246464

I think one or two threads have suggested they are quite competitive.

Does anyone have a quote from them ?

I just got a quote from MINICOVER on the web.

£752 fully comp. Cooper S

Thats for me and my missus (both 23), i was banned last year under the totting up procedure but we've both got five years no claims. I'm quite impressed with that as we're currently paying £690 for our MINI ONE through the AA.

Called them and got £966, looked on the web and got £908

Details ->

me: 31, 3 years NCD, no accidents, 1 x 3 point speeding endorsement from 1999, licence since 1994

wife: 28, no accidents, no fines, licence since 1995

other stuff: Brighton, on street, 15000 miles a year, £18000 car.

Not impressed personally. My VTS (group 14D versus 15A) is only £500!!

I guess Saffron Walden is a safer place to live...

minicover says £840 (£859.95 with Legal cover) - i'm 31, 5 years ncd, no accidents, no points, 10K miles, garaged and in London.

If i were to add the girlfriend who's 24 (no accidents, no points) it went up to £1186.50! Although if she was already 25, it would "only" be £961.80.

Now, do I wait till she's 25 and add her on to the insurance then, or do I just add her as soon as I get the car... Any one know if I were to add the girlfriend on to the insurance 3 months into the policy, when she turns 25, how much extra it could cost? Hopefully it'll be a lot less than the £340 i'd have to pay if she was added as soon as i got the car.

By the way, she's the one who suggested we wait till she's 25 to get added to the insurance. Wished she said that before, as we're paying £1400 at the moment on our current car.

Just got my quote here in US from AMSG Insurance. I knew there had to be some benifit from being an old fart living in the sticks.

Rate for Mini S and 1980 Dodge van beater with multicar discount and good driving record is USD $854 total first year. This breaks down to $502 first six months and $352 for each following six months. Second year will be $704 total as they then drop initial signup fees.

This breaks down to (yearly) $202 for van and $502 for Mini, $150 fee first year only.

Coverage based on $100,000/$300,000--$50,000 prop--$15,000/$30,000 unin. motorist-- $200/ $250 deductible comp and coll. (comp and coll on Mini only).

Cooper S Red/White/White, Air, Computer, Cloth, DSC, Cold Weather. August build.

Sounds as if my quote was very good considering my (and her age). I only hope that MINICover don't treble the rates between now and next March when i'm supposed to be getting my "S". That would be just my luck.......

Incidently, the quote I got was in her name with me as a named driver because i've got a company car so it's technically a second car. Don't know if it would make a huge difference if I insured it the other way round with me as principal driver. Might try it later to compare.
