| MINI2 Senior | Thank You Greenlight I just got my BBR 220 mods covered under new insurance from Greenlight- £659 Suspension and brake and non HP mods- £25 admin fee, but if I do all at once it will be only one charge. Adrian Flux quoted £900. My std MCS was £439- but my renewal was £650 both esure . If MINI2 were to get a deal with an insurer, it makes sense to go for one which deals with mods- there is plenty of choice for std cars anyway. V pleased S |

Offline | Great Deal! I found it surprisingly hard to get anyone to cover me, ended up with Direct Line. I think if everyone who tuned their cars was honest, it might well emerge that there are a lot of undeclared mods out there, and with the insurers being so unfriendly, who can blame them. It cost me an extra £300, and some very painful long conversations with call centres off shore, trying to describe exactly what an oversized throttle body etc was. I hope your recommendation helps others. Good find. Piers |

Offline | Thank you for your kind words or praise. We are a family run insurance broker specialising in modified and performance cars so a tuned cooper s is perfect for us We have had a number of members from this forum call for quotes so I thought I should register and check it out for myself. My brother who is also my business partner has a 2003 Cooper S which I use regularly......It is the best handling car i have ever driven. Regards Neil Greenlight Insurance |

Offline | Just came round to renewal time again. First Alternative wanted to up my premium by 10% on my JCW because I have put spots and skirts on it. Greenlight? No problems. They have matched my renewal but will get my business because they seem to understand that we care about our vehicles and see us as a good risk. Very friendly team there it seems. Got to be worth thinking about for any Mini Modders, especially the BBR/GT brigade. Cheers, Fraz The "WORKS" |

Offline | Rather than searching for direct online quotes, many of you should look at engaging the services of a good broker like Greenlight. Many brokers have special schemes that could be of benefit if your vehicle is modified or if you have unusual circumstances. | MINI2 Regular | Im gonna add to this with another thumbs up for Greenlight. Insuring a MINI legally and getting it fully covered is just soooo difficult (esp if you have mods), I have just switched back to Greenlight (I had several years previously with them with other cars) and I am well pleased. As things stand I would highly recommend them. JohnO ![]() |

Offline | Just had a quote from them for my Works S with a few other added bits Seems very competitive, especially when you take into account the mods. They where not frightenend by them at all. I think I will be taking up their offer when mine is due in a short while. |

| Countdown Queen! | After reading about Greenlight on this forum I thought I would give them a call regarding my insurance renewal. I am glad that I did!!! They have saved me £300!!! Plus my excess has dropped!! Questions on future mods didn't scare them, the fact that I have the aero kit side skirts didn't bother them!! All in all I am really glad that I rung them!!! ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Pfft why is there nobody that offers decent insurance for younger drivers? I've been driving 2 years and 4 months, unfortuantely as a named driver with my father as the primary, only because insurance was PROHIBITIVALY high otherwise. I've been working since age 16 and have enough buying power to finance a £30k car quite easily.... what i dont have is £6k to spunk up the wall in insurance every year. Why cant insurers take my named-driver experiance as no claims bonus? I havent claimed....clearly i should get a discount! some people on here with MCS with quotes of £350/year? What the hell? Its like us young drivers are subsiding their motoring!!! |

Offline | Dont`t take this the wrong way but possibly reported facts as listed may have something to do with it. By the way I am 58 drive a Works S FULL no claims and pay £ 650 /yr I would love to pay 350 but possibly I am paying more because of the younger generation?? An eighteen year old is three times as likely as his/her parents to have an accident whilst driving.Male drivers under 25 cause the most serious and fatal accidents of any age group.Young drivers often, fatally, ignore signs or symptoms of tiredness, resulting in serious motorway accidents. Research recently carried out by the RAC Foundation and Max Power magazine showed that one in four young drivers questioned had driven after being awake for more than 24 hours - which is very unsafe. Be safe...Visit the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents to find out more. 17-25 year olds hold just 10% of all driving licenses but cause more than 20% of car accidents.Young drivers are lax about drink driving: a scary 48% of young drivers said that they thought they would drive better after a few pints (Max Power survey).Inexperienced drivers are slower to recognise dangers and are also slower at driving manoeuvres. This makes them less likely to be able to dodge threats posed by other dangerous drivers, and so more likely to get into accidents. |

| Countdown Queen! | We have all been there dogzilla!! I cna tell you before I changed to Greenlight I was paying a grand to insure my MCS and I am am 27 and a female!!! Prior to that I had a 172 and was paying about £850. Young driver car insurance has always been expensive and always will be. There is more risk that you will have an accident (as much as you think you won't). As nice as it is to have a great car, you are best to just get something old and easy to replace to get you on the ladder, you will be suprised what a difference 1 years NCB will make!!! Or get your Dad to change to Direct Line who will take into account the named drivers time on the policy into consideration (obviously only if you get a policy with them). Apart from that there is not much I can say. £6k is alot of money and I don't know anyone who is paying that so I would be interested to know what car you were looking at!!! Vicks ![]() ![]() |

| MINI2 Regular | I know this thread has been dead for almost a year but I just spoke to Greenlight and all I can saw is wow!!!!! I've got a few mods (pulley, bigger tyres, remap, JCW Airfilter) so I thought I'd better be responisble and declare them. I was with swiftcover who are great on price but c**p on service and they wanted £445 and that included protecting my 5 years no claims, but I have forgotten to mention my mods Anyway, I phone Greenlight, declare my mods and get ready for the price to start with a 6 or 7....................guess what?.................. £457.75! Now I'm a happy bunny. Renwal come up next month so I'll be going with them for sure. Only thing I can think of that you others haven't mentioned is putting your spouse or partner on as a named driver really helps. Still can't get over it £457 and fully legal!!!! ![]() |
