Exclamation HUGE Insurance Problem!

I've got a massive problem with my insurance, in that it's been cancelled. Basically, they won't insure my car because the front windows are tinted to 50% (is this legal?), they will only ensure up to 30%. So I've got 7 days to choose an option...

Find a company that will insure a 19yr old with 3 points for under £1500 (proving impossible)
Garage MINI, buy old banger to drive around in
Sell MINI and get something cheaper to ensure, but better than an old banger
I believe, as they say, I'm proper ******...

Dom

(Havn't I done this before already )

Was a 1, now 1 of 150 in a 40

I think the best option would be to get your tints reduced to 30%, the legal limit.

I tried a quote for you on CiS, and it would come in at just over £1700 mind you I didn't know what you got your points for, I just guessed it was for speeding. Excess is £50+voluntary£150.

Go give them a try. I'm with them.

Hope you get your problem sorted!

PS CiS don't care if your windows are tinted. You just have to notify them. Are you sure your windows are 50%? They looked about the same as mine, which is the legal limit (30% I think). Speak to the guys who did it for you and find out, maybe its the back windows that are 50%, the fronts could only 30%, so your insurance wouldn't be buggered!

Dom ...

Let me get this straight ... you would rather garage the MINI than remove the tint ?!?!?!?

Come on dude .. it's summer time outside ... wake up
You guys barely get any sun there in England .. and you want to keep that little bit out too?

Why is the tint so important to you?

We Brits need to remain pale-pasty-white!

It's ok, the tinting company were wrong, police tested it at under 30% (just!)...

I was going to garage it and insure it under my dad's name. Then I'd just drive it at weekends... meaning I can rack up no claims on an old banger, and still have a nice car with low mileage!
