who can recommend a mod frendly insurer?

I have a modified MCSa convertible, that I insured with Direct line, declaring all the modifications. Unfortunately they did not receive my no claims certificate, and have canceled the policy. I can reinstate the policy, but will have various additional charges added, which I am keen to avoid. Getting the original quote was very painful as the insurers kept having to go to the underwriters, who inevitably said no to the modifications. Also I found it impossible to get quotes including the mods on line.

I called Greenlight, as a few Mini2er's have said good things about them, but they require me to fit a tracking devise, which adds another £449 + £120 monitoring cost.

I know people will refer me to Adrian Flux, but last time they quoted me £1500. I have full no claims, 35 years old, and the car is kept in secure parking.

Please can anyone suggest a mod friendly insurer as my car is currently not covered.

Regards

Piers

www.quinn-direct.co.uk seemed quite happy about me having modded my car.

I have a Cooper, in a Liverpool Postcode. I'm 29 with full no claims.

Modifications include Pipercross Viper induction and PlayMINI Catback exhaust.

They quoted me £560 fully comp (as opposed Adrian Flux who wanted £1200 - they're a bleedin joke)

Im with elephant.co.uk, My car is 2004 cooper, with coilovers, non standard alloys, sound system induction kit declared, Im 19 and got 1 year no claims and it cost's me £1121 per year, in my own name!!!

Elephant dont care about mods, aslong as you declare them, Theres a huggge list on the site of extras!! Also, www.confused.com are usually good, They search about 20 diff companys who deal with your criteria! hope that helps!!

Luke,

I used to be with Elephant, but I don't like their options policy. My car has a lot of factory options that elephant will not properly cover.

Thanks anyway

Yes, watch out for Elephant and their replacement small print (anything not basic spec isn't covered in terms of replacement). There's a large thread on here about it.

Try www.endsleigh.co.uk. They will insure non performance mods for free but you will have to ring for a quote if you have any performance mods. They are good though. They even paid my mate above book price when he totalled his car (he had only had the car 5 days and he got £1000 more than what he paid for it)
