Weight reduction

I've been reading through the old threads. the best way to modify the CVT is via weight reduction.

Easiest is via lighter wheel and lighter tires.

my question is. after having lighter wheel and lighter tires what is ther best way to reduce the weight of the ride?

Remove your back seat - as per JCW GP
or Carbon Fibre Bonnet, Carbon Fibre Door etc. etc.
Just depends how much money you want to spend.

If you have a sunroof replace the glass with the vinyl top available from MINI. That glass must weigh 40lbs! Also, the braille battery weighs about 12lbs compared to 25 or so for the stock item. And make your friends walk

A bunch of the engine componants (flywheel and such) are heavier than aftermarket alternatives - replacing them with lighter alternatives would mean less rotational mass, faster acceleration, greater fuel economy, et al.

Personally I wouldn't like to remove any weight that would lead to a less comfortable drive - i.e foam insulation. Is the extra bit of speed really worth making your mini sound like a tin can?

I can however see the benefit in light wheels as they do make a huge difference

It's on page two of the MINI accessories catalogue (I don't know if the U.S one is different), and the part number is 54-11-0-150-73. It isn't cheap, $1600 CDN plus installation, so I decided for that money there are other ways to make the car faster!!
