03 Cooper CVT, Engine Revs

hi guys,

Ive bought this 03 mini cooper auto. 60,000. its very nice car. but one thing i dont understand is. when im going from 50 - 70 it makes noise (sort of noise u hear while accelerating and using clutch padle at the same time in any manual car). i havent driven any auto car before. it goes prefect upto 50 and over 70. but going from 50 - 70 or coming back (decreasing speed) from 70 - 50 its RPM goes over 4 or 5 and engine Revs too. It happens when i try to increase speed when im driving at 50, it sounds like it aint going in to higher gear and RPM goes over 4 and then it goes smooth.. and once im 70 or over and i try to slow down same happens engine revs RPM goes over 5 and then it finds the RIGHT gear to be in and then again goes smooth.

and secondly when i swtich it to SD mode.. i see that i can decrease gears but cant increase gears regardless of RPM.. probabley im not speeding enuff and yet trying to change into higher gears..

Is there any thing im doing wrong?

regards

As far as the noise concern, that doesn't sound normal to me as described. You might want to have it checked out. With regards to the switching grears it does sound like you are trying too soon. The CVT essentially won't let you change gears "inappropriately."
