Cool Calling all high mileage Cooper CVT owners....

While our '02 Cooper CVT (Early August 2002 build date) has managed to collect only 7,700 miles in a little over 9 months since taking delivery, I wonder how many high mileage CVTs are currently running ouththere with no or very few problems???

Please post your current mileage and build date! :white:

I don't think I qualify for this thread, but here goes anyway:

Build 5/17/2002
~10.5k miles
Recently updated the CVT software to cure the low idle problem.

Had it idle roughly a couple of times in the first 15,000 miles. Software update fixed it right up. No mechanical failures anywhere on the car.

No real problems. Touch wood! ;-) Haven't had any reasons to ask for specific updates.

nfo--I'm curious: why do you need a software update? What's wrong/what would you like to be better?
I have a July 2002 build, and can't figure out whether a software update is or is not worth getting. (The car is fine, but I have no idea if he could drive better with an update!).

I've been curious about the same thing, i had mine upgraded quite a while ago for the stalling problem, but there have been a lot of upgrades since then.

I'm over 3k(i know, not much) miles, only problem was the initial stalling.

June 02, 13000+ miles. No major problems up until this point, but a warning light is under investigation.

With all the reply from you guys, it sound like the automatic CVT transmission is more reliable than the manual. I hope my new mini with CVT build Apirl 03 will be as reliable.

I'm also torn on updating or not...mine is a 12/02 build, and I've put about 7k miles on it since the end of January when I got it. It drives fine, no stalling or lurching or rough idling or anything else. The only real "problem" is the "rubber-banding" at 8-10 mph, which while annoying, is really no big deal since I rarely drive at 8-10 mph I'm a bit wary of updating anything, but what if the update makes it drive even better?

Are you still in 32.1? I guess it is your call....the rule of thumb is "If it ain't broken why fix it?"

However, I have found the the car runs a bit smoother and better with the 32.2 update. I am still keeping a close eye on it.

I have a Nov '02 build now with 10000+ miles and just had the 32.2 update at my oil service 2 days ago. There wasn't much wrong with the car before the update except a hesitation on accelerating from a stop. I believe that has improved slightly, but so far I haven't been aware of any other changes...

17,800+ miles. Some rough idling at about 8k fixed by software update.

Apr 02 build date. 10000 miles. After the first oil change I started getting the jumping while stpped at lights. Need to get the software update which should also fix the stalling problem. Everytime I hear that the newest software fixes the problems, somebody else says it doesn't.

Sold the Cooper. Now driving the Traveller. I mean Clubman.
