CVT Website with Info

Here's a website article I found today that is interesting reading about the CVT. Don't know if it has been posted before as it appears to be over a year old.

Sorry, I can't get this website to open as it is not highlighted, so you will need to retype it.

That's a straight-forward and interesting link, providing some more validation to the statement that we are driving an interesting and capable machine.

Yes, I'm very excited about the CVT. Someone said the other day that the CVT was banned from formula 1 racing because it was so dominating. That was a very interesting statement, and I did not know about that, having not really followed racing that much until I got the MINI. I figure it must be that extreme engine braking that would make a big difference, if I had to guess on that.

No, it wasn't the braking. The CVT allows the motor to "at the optimum" output, while the gearbox is used to manage ratio adjustments and acceleration, exactly as the MINI CVT-equipped cars can do. That's what got it banned - it was going to be too good.

Do a search here in MINI2; we put up a thread that has descriptions, pictures, and links in it to the Williams/Renault FW15c CVT.
