i tend to agree with you about waiting ian - if it ain't broke...don't fix it! although for some reason i am feeling like the latest software rev might be the ticket and i am tempted to have it done just to be up to date...hmmm.....

pondering - drew

(on another note, my jcw air box has been squealing when being driven and the dentist drill type sound, athough minor, is driving me mad. we've swapped out the kit and its still there and the good folks at jcw in the uk suggest it has something to do with the vacuum hose inside the air box... very frustrating indeed! i am going in next friday to have them (prestige mini, nj) try and get to the bottom of things and that's when i might just do the update... i figure one more week should be enough time to see...hopefully!)

Is anyone still having this issue with 2005 MCSa? My light just came on and my car seems fine. It's been 284 days and 14,660 miles.

Did you get the software update?
I have not seen the issue since GBMINI was updated last year.

I thought I had gotten the upgrade back in November (or early fall) including the O2 sensor upgrade. In fact I think I got 2 software upgrades last year.

If the car is driving properly, there might be no problem - see if it clears in the next two or three starts.
Or visit your dealer, who can check the code (even if the light has cleared) to identify the issue.

I just bought a used mini and everything was fine for two days and then suddenly, I have the SES light and the car will turn over but then go into limp mode. Its at the dealership right now, and I asked if they could verify that the car has received all the service software updates, since I am not the original owner and I wouldn't know. The service technician seemed confused when I suggested that the problem was a software issue--- and told me they'd call back after they had completed the diagnostic. They've been working on it since 9:30 this morning and now it's 2:40 in the afternoon. Does this seem odd?

When I called Mini this past week---they told me that the O2 sensor was under warranty, which to me seemed strange, like why mention it unless there's something I should be concerned about.
