Did the Midland gearbox get a fix?

Bringing this out from the Midland 5speed poll.

There are enough reports of 2002 5-speed coopers biting the dust. Can anyone confirm if there was a fix or design change on that unit? My replaced gearbox has part nr.: 23007520071, and since I suspect Murphy has taken particular interest in my car, it would be OK to know if this gearbox is identical to the former one.
