Water Pump Leak !!

Hi all -
I had to call Mini Emergency Services out to my cooper today as the engine was overheating, checked the coolant level and it had all gone.

It took the engineer quite a while in the dark to find any leaks but eventually he did find that the water pump housing had sprung a leak, and emptyed all my cars water out.

he told me he has never seen this fault on a mini yet, has anyone else had this or know if it will be covered it warranty?

Cheers

Water Pump leak

I had a similar problem to planeboy last weekend when my 02 cooper S overheated, and found it to have no water in. Even after filling it back up, it drops low again. I saw several mini engines pop because of this problem back in O3, when I worked for Hartge UK, however BMW never actually made a recall. My car is out of warranty now, and so it is likely to cost me a fortune for a problem which I'm positive was inherant in the early cars. Have you had the problem sorted out? Has anyone else had similar issues. if so, would be good to hear from you, as car is about to go into BMW workshop.

I got it fixed at my local dealer, they did it all under warranty. Ive no idea on what the cost would have been, they didt question it and just fixed it asap
