Gears

My mini at the moment has problems engaging 1st gear and reverse gear.
The clutch is right to the floor but the gear stick just won't slide into 1st of reverse.

Anyone got any ideas.

Try raising the clutch slightly, see if you can engage before you get to the biting point.

If your Mini is pre 54 reg, then they are well known for gear box problems get it looked at as soon as possible.
Or the clutch is on the way out

ive just had a new gearbox and clutch fitted because it blew up

but i had the same trouble just before my went!!

reverse is sometimes because of the sync on the earlier boxes but getting into first shouldnt be a problem and there is obviously something wrong!
