Question Front visual problem?

Picked up my JCW MCS last week, all was well. Fell deeply in love with the car immediately!! (so much anticipation..as we all know, right?)

However, after around 100 km of driving it, I became slightly nauseous! Like feeling sea sick..... At first I thought it was some smear on the inside front window that sort of caused the funny blurry vision. Got back home, thoroughly wiped and cleaned the front windscreen (both inside and outside) took off again but the same funny blurry vision remained!! It sort of not so obvious at first but it sort of wears down on the eyes after about 15 minutes of driving.

I don't claim to have the best eye sight in the world (short sighted ) But the very recent trip to the optician proved that all is well!!

One of the conclusion that I can come up with is the very curvy windscreen that the Mini has which may effect certain individual with less than perfect eyesight!! Don't want to sound like I am hallucinating or anything but really if anyone has ever experienced this funny sensation then I really love to hear your thought on it.

Otherwise the rest of the ownership experience so far has been absolutely fantastic!!!

Any chance you have a heated windscreen?? Take a really close look, if there are ultra fine wavey lines in layed in the screen then you have it (Don't know why you'd need one in Thailand!) My mate whoes an optomatrist says quiet a few people get headaches trying to focus past them.

Thanks Blusox. Will check this out first thing tomorrow. It sounds like a good possibility! Oh dear? what should I do if it is the case....!! Surprise that this happens since it was fine when I test drove the demo car.

The only solution would be to have the windscreen replaced, or get use to it. Did you spec the visibility package or whatever your local pack is? This would include the heated windscreen.

Theres also a button on your aircon control panel with a symbol of a windscreen with a jagged line through it if you have it installed.

Can't really help, but I'd happily swap it for my standard windscreen if I could, as winters coming on here and I hate de-icing my car in the morning!

That's funny!! Guess the winter is coming. Wish the winter here could be classified as a real "winter"!!! (well..just a fraction of the UK temp would do ) Saw lots of MC and MCS over there. Many cool specs!

Yes, there is the jagged line botton as you pointed out on the air con panel!! Oh I am doomed!!!! Guess ,better get use to it then...!!

The problem with ordering Mini here is that they only come in 2 basic specs. They are called Look1 and Look 2. Mine is Look 2 . The auto climate control is standard on both you see. While the main differences for Look 2 are the additional glass sunroof and 17 inches, passenger seat height adj, plus some other small options. Guess they sort of semi discourage you to spec your own option since both specs are already very well equipped.
These Minis are still super "premium" product over here (absurd import tax in Thailand).....some thought I was nuts to pay the price I paid!!!! But as they say..minis are just not any ordinary cars!!

Just had a play on the Thai Official Mini site and didn't see the heated screen as an option. It would have 2 windscreen symbols on the switch, one for the rear window, the other for the front.

If its not the heated screen then it could well be a sub standard windscreen. Any chance you can take a pic and post it of your aircon console?

Jus tthought. You don't have any light coloured material of odbects on top of your dash do you? My mini windscreen is a bu**er for reflecting things on the dash!!!
