Front Windscreen misting up

Had my MCS now for a year with auto air-con, dont normally ever have the air-con mode or auto mode on unless really hot!!

Problem is that at night and in the rain the only way i can de-mist my front screen is by pressing the aircon button, this imediatly clears the mist, then when i switch it off the screen mists up again. yesterday i fully cleaned the inside of the screen which was quite dirty i must say, but last night again it still misted up as described, last winter i never had this problem, so whats going on?!?!?

its a bit of a vicious circle with air con - once you've had it on it dries the air in the car, when you turn it off you start filling the car with damp air & it condenses on the windows. this can even happen the next day if you've had the air con on the previous day. the best way to clear it is to open the windows (preferably using the buttons, not a brick )

if you're getting really bad misting in the wet it could be there's a leak somewhere in the seals either around the doors or windscreen - have you checked the door seals for damage or dirt? even trapped dirt can reduce the effectiveness of the seal.

alternatively it could be that the fan isn't blowing as hard as it should be or there could be a blockage in the vents or tubing somewhere.

Just a thought,

Is your recirculation valve operating ok?

If its stuck shut and the a/c is off, the windows will mist up as the humidity rises within the car.

one way to cure is to turn air con off and go for a drive, heater on full (hot) to dry the water out - solved ... (till next time you use air con anyway). Most cars have this issue.

Yeah, and it does no harm (other than using more fuel) to have A/C on and turn on the heater to heat up the air so you don't freeze
