I got a '05
MCS in March which almost immediately developed a fault with the clutch and flywheel. I also noticed that when changing up from 1st to 2nd gear, clutch fully depressed, i could hear the gears going into place under the car (not in a grinding way and not just the noise of the gearstick going into place). As BMW couldn't replace the clutch and flywheel quickly enough I insisted on a replacement.
Having got my replacement '55
MCS I have noticed that when I change up from 1st to 2nd I can occasionally hear the gears shifting into position beneath the car again. Again there is no grinding sound at all and the car drives very smoothly, smoother than my '05
MCS. This occured with the courtesy Mini Cooper I had as well whilst awaiting my new
MCS
Is this normal as have been told that mini gearboxes can be quite clunky anyway and as it's a small car u may hear that noise occasionally? Would just like my mind put at rest!
