Have any of you experienced problems with your factory-fitted nav system similar to the following:
1. It will not allow me to input the correct house number for my address; everytime I do so, it immediately changes to number 30, which is 1/2 a mile away.
2. When getting lost in the lanes approaching Hemel Hempstead, trying to avoid early evening traffic on the M1, I will set the route finder to my home(ish) address with "non-motorway" selected, but the nav chooses a route along the M1.
I know that problem 1 being resolved is more of a nicety, but problem 2 could be more serious if the driver was an inexperienced learner, or one of those drivers that never ventures onto our motorway network.
For info: I have the latest firmware installed (4.1/60), but the mapping is a 2003-1 CD.
'm guessing that the 2003 CD is not quite up to date and that its not 100% in tune with the latest NAV software. Later versions have a DVD based system, might be a misread going on there somwhere. I've never had a problem with Motorways being routed if Non-Motorway is selected.
Thanks for the reply Goonery.
Unfortunately, the errors have been experienced for quite some time; two updates of the firmware would suggest the disk is at fault, but not because of urban development - the areas I have experienced the problems at have not been altered since before the 1960s!
I have since emailed Navteq on their support site, logging the precise errors - maybe I can use their information as back-up when I next visit my dealer.
With the S we had last summer the maps were out of date (roundabout/junction on a major road still listed that hasn't been there for years), and our house isn't on it, but that's no surprise seeing as we don't seem to exist according to most records! Other than that, very good.
