Looking at buying a Mini Cooper S w/ JCW package, any common problems?

Just wondering if BMW has resolved most or all the problems that people had with the early models. I'm seeing lots of posts about electrical related problems, what can I expect if I were to buy an '06 MCS w/ the JCW package? Anything to look for while at the dealer?

Any issues with the clutch/transmission/differential (anything in the drivetrain)?

Finally, does anyone buy below MSRP or is there absolutely no discounting?

Thanks in advance.

Not heard of any problems specifically relating the JCW part of the car, but there are still the normal niggles that you get with any car, rattles, small problems etc...

Sure you will see lot of threads on here relating the most common ones

Welcome to MINI2 by the way

Welcome to MINI2
Not had any problems with my JCW 3yrs old 40,00 miles. Few if any probs with car apart from the odd squeak and rattle. Sure you will not be disappointed.

I'm in two minds to p/x my cooper s for a 04 works! test drove it today and i just don't know if it justifies paying an extra £7k and my car??
I couldn't really try it out (if you know what I mean) as the sales guy had to come with me.
It's got the full body kit, full leather JCW seats, JCW wheels, chili pack etc, Ocean are asking £17999, would you say this is a reasonable asking price? it's done 7k ???

Any thoughts would be appreciated as I really don't know what to do

Thanks. I understand that any car can have some minor annoyances like rattles and such. Are there any problems serious enough for recalls or TSB's to have been issued on the recent models.

My first MCS, a very early one, was a shocker & even broke down on my way home from the dealer. I lost count of how many trips I made back to the dealer to have things fixed. The dealer even fried the ECU which meant a week off the road until a new one arrived. Once the bugs were ironed out, it was great. Have had no problems whatsover with my current car after 25,000 kms. Love it more than any other car I've had including a Caterham.

Thanks for letting me know. I have a neighbor who had a MCS and he told me a similar story. He had so many electrical problems he ended up trading his car in on the one he has now. Since he got his new one he hasn't had any problems.

I really like my S2000 but was very impressed with how well the MCS carries speed through the corners. I believe that on a tight track or autoX course the Mini would do very well. I'm looking forward to reading more info on the 2007, I may wait 'till then before getting more serious about wanting one.
