ASC+T Warning Light

Can anyone help, twice now I have had the ASC+T warning light flash on then go out, I wasn't driving fast or braking hard.
Should I get the dealer to check this out ???

Where you changing gear, pulling away from a standstill, or accelerating at the time?

Sounds normal to me then, you don't have to feel it working for it to be working.

ASC+T first tries to slow the wheelspin using the brakes. You may even hear them clicking but you won't feel it like when ASC+T goes to the next, more drastic level of retarding the engine. You'll feel that for sure!

On some BMWs the light doesn't flash when just the brakes are activated but on the MINI it is activated for both stages.

Not true. My 2003 Cooper S only lights up when it retards the ignition not when applying the brakes. However my 2001 reg Cooper lights up for both. Was very confusing when I got my S as I thought there was something wrong.

Is the difference ASC+T on the Cooper vs. DSC on the S?

Thats not it. ASC will first reduce engine power, and only at lower speeds with excessive wheel spin on 1 wheel (since most Cooper and Cooper S have open differential, when excessive power is going to the wheels on snow/ice, 1 wheel will spin while the other doesn't) that ASC will engage braking on that spinning wheel so engine power is transferred to the other non spinning wheel.

That's exactly right. It doesn't mean that it can't apply both brakes though. This is what it ends up doing.

In a straight line it applies the brakes on the side that is first to spin, this transfers power to the other wheel this starts spinning so it brakes on that wheel and starts to ease off on the other. This all happens so fast though that it is just essentially applying the brakes to both wheels. Then once the system realises that this isn't curtailing the spin it cuts throttle.

My warning light is on all the time.....I usually switch it off except for wet days.......the system has nearly killed me a couple of times by cutting the engine when I am pulling out into traffic...especially to the left....so now I switch it off and learned much more about controlling the power to the wheels myself.
