Question Replaced gearbox!

My wife's 53reg 12000 mile MC has just developed want can only be described as a floppy gearstick, it still changed gear OK and so on but the stick lacked any bias springing when pulled to the right. She took it to the dealer yesterday and they suggested it was a faulty cable and needed repair immediately, it was returned today with a new gearbox and very little explanation for the reason for the replacement .Has anybody else had a similar problem and is there something the dealers not telling us.

dealers definatly seem to be hiding something about the gearboxes.

ive never known a car company to replace a gearbox, whithout trying to charge you for it in the first place

Hi there,

not sure if i am an isolated case or not. I have a 54 plate with the new box and clutch, i have recently after 16,000 miles had to have a new clutch, they were also worried about the box but said it was ok. I don't push it either which is strange!

After a new clutch and 1000 miles i am struggling to get 1st, 2nd and 3rd again hence another trip to the garage tomorrow. hopefully it will last another week till i get the checkmate.

Checkmate mad owner
