still worth taking to the dealer as it may be a symptom of a larger problem. Yes, they are expensive but what if you have a major saftey issue and are driving around in a defective car...?

If the tyre pressures are holding constant in the new tyre then the issue lies elsewhere, perhaps with the ABS system itself...

I had a dodgy sensor on our 51 reg mini one a couple of years ago, could be that?

I used to have an 02 cooper, if lights still on then when you have ignition on or engine is running and light is on then press the little tyre button which is located between the front seats if I remember correctly. Hold the button in for a little while till the light goes out and then that should be it ok.

as for the ABS light, well im not gonna be much help with that sorry.

I had problems on my May 2002 build MCS with the Tire Pressure and DSC lights coming on for no apparent reason. Resetting the Tire Pressure Monitor System cleared the lights but only temporarily. The dealer finally had to replace the Steering Angle Sensor.

I'm sure there was a recent (last 6 months?) recall (although BMW never call stuff like this a recall...that has negative implications ) for early models to re-route the wiring for the ABS. The symptoms you are experiencing might be related. This is NOT chargeable by a dealer (whether you are in warranty or not) so take it in and get it checked . It is usual for a dealer to check if their are any outstanding recalls every time you go for a service. I got a letter about something like this but I still haven't got around to getting it sorted yet

If you have had a flat or adjusted tyre pressures significantly, you should recalibrate the sensor by
pressing and holding the reset button bythe handbrake. If the light was flashing before it should then go out. If it is on permanently and not flashing, and possibly also the DSC light is also on, then the steering angle sensor may be faulty , as mine was, which was a common recall so should be covered under warranty or if out of warranty, it's; done on 'goodwill' at no cost to you. So I would approach the dealer for an opinion at least.
