clunking noise from the rear

The car is new, so I don't know what are "oridinary" sounds. It seems that at low speeds (5mph and lower), the rear suspension makes clunking noises as I turn, especially when backing up.

Just wondring if therse are normal noises.

Thanks

Tyler

actually it's a slight clunk/click when I hit the brakes softly at slow speeds. I know that the abs does a self check at whatever low mph, I'm not sure if this is the sound.

I occasionally have this, found it to be the two little black rubber balls that swing from under your parcel shelf

I was thinking it may be something like that, but I took the shelf out and any other thing that wasn't anchored down and it still does it.

I had a loud clicking noise, almost a clunk. BMW did not know what it was but a mechanic friend told me to activate the ABS. I did this and the noise disapeared.

Make sure you have a large area to do this with no cars or people about, I went about 40 mph and then floored the brake pedal, You will feel the brake pedal shudder when the ABS activates.

The noise has not come back since. Please be careful if you try this method on a public road.
