United-Kingdom Need to fix broken plastic cover underneath my Mini. Help?

Hi, I wonder if you can help? I have just broken the plastic cover underneath my Mini One, the cover just behind the front bumber - not sure what's its called, but it seems to cover the engine from below.

I was reversing and didn't realise I had gone over the edge of the kerb using one wheel straight on (the other was on the flat) until I heard a crunch noise. When I looked the plastic underneath the car (just behind the front bumper) had broken, so that one bit was hanging off one of the studs.

Should I not drive it until it's been looked at? Is there a way of fixing it temporarily? Does anyone know how much replacing the plastic would cost? Is it likely the fall has damaged the engine in anyway? Answers very gratefully received.

With many thanks.

Sound like you are describing the undertray. it is not a critical part and you will be OK driving without it. It should take at most one half hour of labor to put a new one back on.
If you are handy and can lift the front of your car with a jack or ramps, it would take you ten minutes to do it. Believe four screws and one bolt are involved.
Hope this helps

Hi MINIAC, cracking website - I spent a long time last night on Google trying to find a website like this one! Big thank you.

Hi pocketrocketowner, your message has indeed helped. I'm so glad the undertray's not vital - and I can drive without it. And I'm grateful to know the labour shouldn't take long - visions of a day with the service people (sadly too new to driving to be handy yet) . Big thank you.
