Windscreen Washer Failure

Filled my washers on friday, then went to use them and they didnt work :O has anyone else had a problem with them? My first thoughts are that the bottle has a leak, as the pump still works when i go to press the washers.

I think the filler neck runs down the fender into a bag. While I've never had a problem with my MINI's bag, I've had some leaks in other cars--the bags are pretty delicate. It would have to be a pretty severe leak to break the washers, though. A couple of things to consider--just because you hear the pump doesn't mean it's not broken. It does mean that all the electrics are probably ok. Also, make sure the jets aren't somehow clogged.

None of this info really comes from specific experience with MINI's. I might be completely wrong about this bag business.

I know this may sound stupid, but have you checked to see that there isnt a kink in any of the pipes that feed the water to the washers. Thats what was wrong with mine when they didnt work.

If the motor is whirring and sounds like normal, chances are that's ok. Could be blocked, try front and rear washers and post what happens. Check hoses as already suggested.

It was acceptable in the 80's
