No problem - I had to go there anyway today because (shock!) there was a slight error in the billing of my replacement windshield yesterday! Gary & Heather apologized greatly and sorted me out though ... and I saw & chatted with another friendly MINI owner, Victor, while I was there

I'd say that there's a good chance that it's at least a two-off event (see the NAM thread referred to earlier. It's long, but you'll get the important bits by scanning through and reading Donna/Mikes posts).
On a positive note, the folks at MINI of Peabody, Chris Bourque in particular, have been a total class act. Arrangements were quickly made for a rental car, free of charge, for as long as it takes for the matter to be sorted out. I did not expect this as we knew up front when buying the car that MINI does not offer loaner vehicles.
A BMW/MINI USA rep is travelling from NJ today to survey the vehicle, and an adjuster from USAA will be inspecting it on Thursday, so we should know a lot more in the next couple of days.
First off, I'm not complaining. We knew up front that MINI does not offer loaner cars during service, so we are very pleased that they are providing the rental car to us. That said, it's a Nissan Sentra with a 3-speed-and-OD slushbox (Ugh!). Can't wait to be back behind the wheel of a MINI.
My Morgan is nearing completion (see my gallery for pics), so, depending on how long it takes MINI to repair or replace, I may not need the rental for the duration.
Yes. ABS and ASC/DSC warning lights came on, both steady yellow (forgot to mention that in my original posting). According to the user manual, solid yellow indicates "check as soon as possible" and "Please have the system inspected at your MINI dealer". Assurance is also given that "conventional braking efficiency is available".
A poster on NAM referred to a service bulletin recomending that the fuse for this curcuit be changed out to one with a lower amperage rating.
I spent some time in a mini dealership and one that came in had this problem...
The owner was complaining different lights kept showing up on the dash, but we soon noticed under the ABS modulator there was a lot of scorching marks and on closer inspection, the wires had been chafed away right to the bare wires of a main harness..
Anylonger and it could have caught alight, It is a common fault on earlier models and i advise you that have minis to keep an eye on this as it cost the lady around £1500 to sort..
