Canada pre-cat oxygen sensor rich mixture fault 2097

I have my engine light on, read the code from the ODB and it gives me 2097, which stands for pre-cat oxygen sensor rich mixture fault 2097, does anyone know what the cause of this, i know that my air filter was dirty as hell, so clean it a bit, didn't have any replacement yet, order one from K&N since the one in right now is just the factory paper, I was wandering if that could be the problem or is there anything else I should be looking at. I don't want to bring it to the dealer right now since the dealer is a 800km from my house and i will wait till my next oil change which is in only 4000km.

From what you have said, at this stage I would assume your filter is clogged and get a new one ASAP. Reset the code and hope it doesn't come back.

I have change the filter but can't seem to clear the error code, does anyone knows what else I could look for, could this be real bad that I have to drive to the dealership to get it check out, or could I just wait another 3000km (since that when i plan to go to the dealership to get my oil change and a check up)

I know there are two problematic sensors in the mini. the first is the lambda and the second the oxygen/temperature. I have no cat so have a decat pipe i constantly have a problem with the oxygen sensor tripping the light, I am currently running lean and i know you have to be careful with pistons when running lean.

If the reading is greater than 1.0, then there is a surplus of air and the engine is running lean. If the reading is less than 1.0, then there is a surplus of fuel and the engine is running rich.

i go told that if i was running rich not to wowrry so much and just get it checked when i could?!!

this probably doesn't help much so sorry!!
