Smile Dashboard rattle fixed itself up!

I've had this minor, but nevertheless annoying, rattle on my MINI's dashboard for at least a year. It stopped briefly during winter, but started again about 3 months ago, as the weather got warmer.

I located it down to the chrome ring around the dashboard-light dimming switch! It rattled as it came in contact with the dashboard itself. I kept pushing it (and other times pulling it) for it to stop, but it worked briefly.

I washed my car yesterday. I must have done something while cleaning the interior because the rattle seems to has fixed itself up!

Has someone else had this kind of rattle? Or, has someone else found rattles that are weather sensitive on their MINIs?

An update:

It's been a whole month now and that old annoying rattle seems to have vanished forever (knocking on wood!).
