Do i have a Warranty claim???

Hi

after 17000 miles i noticed

(1) a hole in the drivers floor mat between the accelerator & brake

(2) the lower part of the handbrake gaiter has been cut by a screw from behind

Do i have a case for a warranty claim on any of these 2 items???

Fabio

there seems to be a problem uploading photos, i'll post photos later

1) I wouldn't have thought so.

2) Maybe, worth a shot.

I'd try for both and see how you go.

One of my rubber bobbly bits has just fallen from my S pedals with only about 5k miles on the clock, wondering if I should mention that too.

No 1.........no.....no way. You'll just have to stop wearing your heals when you drive.

No 2..............exact same thing happened to me on my last Mini, but on the gear lever. I complained and they fixed it under the warranty.

I would. I once had the tiniest of cracks on my dash, so I complained, twice. And they replaced it each time. My experiences are when the car is under warranty, they're more than happy to fix these niggles as they make a tidy sum out of it. It is BMW who foots the bill.

I have to admit I skip complaining about some very minor issuse that should be covered by warranty, mainly because of the pain of having to travel 40 miles to my dealer and either wait while they fix it or arrange some other method of getting to work. The time/effort doesnt seem to justify it to me. And I'm a great believer that you should always have at least one imperfection on the car, other wise something more annoying will just come along and ruin it for you (like a stone chip or a parking ding or a kerbing). Life shouldnt be perfect.

I wish I had mentioned the rust on my spots three months ago now though, then I would have got 2 new spots for free, and the broken spot lamp glass would also have gone away (2 year warranty only on 'accessories'...)

my dealer is only a couple 4 miles away so is not a big deal, they used to be only half a mile away but they moved a few years ago.

i didnt know about the 2 year warranty on accessories

Tony that's interesting about the accessories but what if you had them fitted at the factory? Surely they'd have a three year warranty on them then

It was acceptable in the 80's

The first one I dont think you would get fixed by warrenty as its wear and tear, my mats are the same but the threads just coming off no hole

For the handbrake you could have a chance, see what they say when u go in

I dunno actually. I just assumed if you specced your car with spot lights it came from the factory with them.
