Automatic Door Locking at 10mph

Does everyone's auto door locking work at 10mph? My Cooper Convertible seems to not be locking until 15mph...

Perhaps you are accelerating so quickly that they start to lock at 10mph, but by the time they actually lock, you are doing 15mph!!!!

I tried driving off really slowly last night and watched the speedo and it was definately 14-15mph when it locked...

This is just one in a long line of problems with my car!

I think it's forgotten it's a car and herbie is now a mini rather than a beetle!!!

10 mph or 15 mph. Does it really matter? Also remember the speedo is deliberately calibrated 2mph over what you are doing.

AFAIR the official speed is 12mph. At 10mph it does the ABS test.

It was acceptable in the 80's

Fair enough it might not be much but when you add it to all the other faults with my car it's just another thing in a long line!

I don't think so, I don't think i'd even be bothered if the doors didn't lock at all! Its usually 0-60 times people are bothered about, Not 0-Door Lock tests.....

It doesn't bother me, but as she asked I was just letting her know that mine don't lock at exactly 10mph either. The poor girl was only asking!

Sorry if it sounded like I was moaning I was actually trying to point out that there is no fault.

If it locks it's working. Maybe it's that your speedo is calibrated slightly higher than others or maybe BMW changed it to 15 mph. Either way, as long as the doors lock, there is no fault.

It was acceptable in the 80's

When I purchased my Mini I was told by the dealer that it was 15mph that the doors lock at - out of curiosity I have checked on a few occasions and it has always been 15mph.

Thanks for all your replies guys!

I was only asking because on my 05 Mini One I had they did lock at 10-11 mph and with the troubles I'm having at the moment I'm just gettign paranoid about anything else I notice with the car!
