Engine stall and loss of power after refuelling

Hi all

I have expereienced a strange fault mode three times in recent weeks - after filling the tank my MCC will feel like it's misfiring and momentarily lose power when accelerating - feels like it's got dirt in the fuel and 'bunn-hops' slightly. The last time it did it was last week only this time everything was fine until the first roundabout I reached after fuelling - about a mile at 60mph - at which point I realised that the engine had died before I stopped.

It's never done it randomly and once it's had a stutter or two everything seems fine - has anyone experienced this? Searched the forims but couldn't find anything...

Cheers

I once got a LOT of water in the fuel tank after I filled up an old SU carb car at a well known budget supermarket - but definately couldn't possibly have come out of their tanks

The car behaved a lot like you described. I don't really know what would happen with fuel injection. I'm talking a gallon of water - not a few drops, but maybe yours isn't too bad. So water in the fuel tank maybe?

Interesting thought - I must admit to being a petrol-snob though and never use supermarket fuel...

A colleague has suggested it might be a problem with the fuel pump - maybe in connection with the sudden change in pressure in the tank due to a considerable change in the volume of fuel - plausible?

Cheers
