Xenon headlights

Just a question about Xenon headlight. We have a 2006 Jcw Mcs with factory fitted Xenon headlights which we have had for several weeks. When you select high beam should something happen ? Or is the focus of these lights set and what you see when you turn them on is what you get? And the high beam selector on the steering column is only used to turn on the spots when high beam is selected? I have read the owners hand book and all it says is that they are self leveling.

High beam is Halogen, Xenons are self levelling on normal beam, when you first turn on you should see it self level, up then down.
Have you had the spot lights fitted by a dealer> These should come on with the high beam.
