Just came back from dropping off my JCW seats to john vital, 5 miles from home on dual carriageway and I hear a large bang/crack. Thought it was part of my wiper blade but it was actually my A piller cover flying off. It's broken off completely. Anyone have an idea of replacement cost? I did notice from the other side a ticking sound at around 70mph from the same area, could it be the other side as well ?
2002, when I bought it they previous owner did say he'd had the windscreen replaced, im guessing there was some sort of sealent under there that hasn't set very well ?
£22.30 for the cover, and £3.28 for the foam underneath.
I'm wondering if its an easy job to fix myself, the bracket and screws that seem to hold the other one on seem hard to get to as the door rubber seal blocks it, anyone know if this is an easy job ?
i will see if i can find the thread with my occurence of this.
mine was replaced at dealer £75 ish, autoglass paid for it and the damage to the roof it caused when it came off as they didnt fit the a pillar cover back on properly. i had to threaten them with legal action in the end. the paid close to £800 to me for dent removal and roof respray..
Is that really it? just screwed on? I would have thought there must be some sort of sealent against the windscreen as it must have only broken off due to too much air being forced underneath
The only clips I can see are these, all of which are the same, snapped completely off. Are there any clips at the top/bottom? I don't fancy trying to pull my other cover off to find out. If it is just those 4 clips though I might as well and jut go buy the part from bmw and see if I can do it myslef
having had a few sets of these, its a case of replacing the green snap in clips and ensure the half discs on the door side arent broken too. then screwing it all in. dont know about the sound proofing foam as mine blew off and didnt get replaced by BMW.
