Wind Noise

I have most of the annoying problems with my car including the Left Pull and several trim rattles.

I've also got one that I've not seen posted.

When traveling at motorway speeds I get an annoying high pitched whistling noise. Initally I thought that it was coming though a side window seals, but since then I've found that the noise is coming through the air vents. If I use the "Recirculation button" to block off fresh air the Whistling disappears.....

You can expect wind noice due to the upright Windscreen, but surely not whistling through vents.....

Anyone else experiencing this ????

p.s. Mine has the old style top mounts on the struts, so its a trip to the dealer today to see about the "left pull" fault.....

I had a whistle from what i thought was the top centre of the windscreen from the day my car was delivered, and it only really became audible above about 50 mph. it was really invasive.
its taken 3 - 4 months for the problem to be solved, and it was resolved yesterday, the problem was that a number of grommets were missing and / or unsealed from the bulkhead, resulting in wind noise.

I'm afraid that it didn't seem to be related to the airvents tho....but its worth a look

my first mini had this problem, the dealer thought it was something to do with the air inlet for the interior vents,
like your car it only started over 50 mph and at times seemed better with the re-circ button on, car was replaced
before they had chance to fit new parts.

Hope this is of some little help

whistle

I can only hear the whistling if I have the windows down...especially when I'm next to a barrier. Mine seems to be on the drivers side only? At first it was an annoyance, then I discovered that it only really starts to whistle at about 75 mph! What a great built in speeding warning ! I assumed the source is the bumper or gas cover?

you think that's bad, 50mph+ i get a noise from near the fuse box that sound like a short circuit, no smell of burning (so that's ok then!) and the delear isn't overly worried about my getting it checked out before we get our replacement S (whenever that may be??)
