Unhappy Fault in opening soft top

Last Sunday was nice & warm, so thought I'd open my top fully, not just sunroof section, & ... hey presto! nothing happened!!

The sunroof function works OK, but when I try to open more with second press of button, nothing else works.

Has anyone experienced this before? The roof motor must still be ok as the sunroof opens fine. I've checked the levers in the boot are fully locked. Last time I had it fully opened was about one month ago. Will ring dealer tomorrow for help. .

HELP!

Silly question, but you had the parcel shelf in the lower position right? And the boot lid was closed 100%?

I actually had this during my test drive! As Paul has mentioned above, the parcel shelf wasn't sitting on the sensor properly, so the roof wouldn't go back beyond the sunroof. Make sure the parcel shelf is sitting fully on the sensor, then try again.

I had this problem after my MINI had been into the dealership.

Does the red light on the button flash? If so then like Paul says it could be the parcel shelf... This was the problem with mine... Just adjusted it and hey presto it worked!

Mine sometimes doesn't work at all (the red light doesn't come on) for the sunroof or the roof... but I think this is due to a recode the dealership have done to try to rectify the windows problem.

Just read all your replies tonite ! Thanks for the advice - It sounds like the parcel shelf could be the answer as you all mentioned. I didnt check if it was fully seated.

Too cold & late to go outside & try it out now, but here's hoping it will solve my problem in the morning!!

Rang Dealer (Sytner Chigwell) for help earlier in the day - all the lady on the phone said was I had to book it in for them to have a look. Would've been better if I could have spoken to someone who knew something about Minis ??

I'll let you all know the result tomorrow.
