England Heated Windscreen problem

Well, frosty this morning!
Car was all frosted up, I switched on the heated windscreen and the ice duly started to melt. Except for an inch wide strip from top to bottom right in front of my steering wheel. Looks like the elements in that bit are not heating up.

My question is, will this be covered under warranty? The windscreen has no stone chips that I can see, so it looks like a fault that has developed. Will my dealer repair it for free or will they get out of it somehow?

Ive got exactly the same thing its so annoyin! Im not sure whether this is a warranty issue? Id like to know that as well. I had my front windscreen replaced and now it happens. im wondering whether its not as good of a windscreen that Bmw use??

Russ, if it's defective and there are no chips then BMW are going to have a hard time saying it's not covered under warranty. Unlike the rear window where the element is stuck on the inside of the screen the front heated window has the strips embedded inside so they can't be scratched.

M1OY CS, yours should be covered under the window fitters warranty.

It was acceptable in the 80's

Thanks

Got my car booked in at the dealer for a new heated windscreen under warranty on thursday.

Had a go in the new R56 MCS while I was there booking it in. Still not sure about some of the looks, but love the drive, definitely faster and quieter inside. Build quality seems improved. Missed supercharger whine though!!

Windscreen replaced yesterday, under warranty. No issues, and seems to be working fine.
