Unhappy Airbag light

Over the weekend the airbag light randomly illuminated when I started the engine. I have had no bumps or anything and the airbags are still in place. After work I am gona disconnect the battery and hope that it will reset the fault. If this doesnt work though I am stumped. Dont want to have to pay delaer prices to have it checked out.

HELP

Had the same problem. Started the car and the lamp came on. Took it to the dealer. They changed the wire to the drivers seat side airbag, the light was gone.....

this kinda problem usually caused by Wires, Plugs, ECU and Airbag not communicate with each other, very low cost to get it fix... shouldnt be any problems

ive just driven home from work and the airbag light has been on the whole time, never happened before. Got home and my dad noticed my brake lights are not working and the front left sidelight is flickering. Could these all be connected or is it just a fluke that my bulbs need replacing?

The bulbs will just need replaced nothing to do with the airbag light.

That airbag light will need to be diagnosed at a dealership. Its probably one of thewiring looms under the front seats for either the side airbag or the seatbelt tensioners.

Easy to get to and check the connections?

hi mines been in three times for the same problem , and now the lights on again but now the warranty has run out ,
they replaced the wire under one of the seats about six months ago, when it was still in warranty if the part has gone again does that part have a warranty of its own ,basicly saying should they fix it for free or not if the same thing has gone wrong again if that makes sense

Yes if it is the same part that is faulty there is a one/two years parts warranty depending on what it is. Only thing is there is 4 wires two going in to each seat that can cause the light to go on. Therefore you could have the fault up to 4 times before it is fully rectified. Sorry for the bad news.

You haven't said what year your car is, but I'm presuming it was 02 or 01. They didn't ever manage to get it fixed for more than a few months on mine.

Do a search but in the US MINI offered a 10 year warranty on this fault because if you have it you've got it if you know what I mean.

Mine went in today for airbag light. Turns out its the seatbelt tensioners. Something has worn. Been quoted £100 to fix.
