DIY dsc light comes on with service engine light

My 2005, 14k miles Cooper S, got a problem about Service Engine light. The SES light was on and off for about 2 months now. It was on for 4-5 days and it went off for 1-2 days. It keep repeating like this for nearly 2 months. I notice that , when the SES light came on, it came with the DSC light, but DSC light usually went off afer I turn off and restart the engine (but the SES stay lit for 4-5 days). I also notice that, when the lights were off, they usually came on when I just drive the car forward (not after starting the engine).

I took my car to mini dealer (70 miles from my home) 2 times. Both time, they said, the computer told that it was a MISFIRE in cylynder1, but they check and everything is ok (fault alarm). So they just reset or reprogram.
The first time they recommend me to put some Fuel Injector Cleaner.
The second time (2 days ago) they told me to use midgrade fuel in cold weather. (I live in Madison, WI, it's cold here). It seems like my problem hasn't been fixed at all.

Please help, what should I do? Chang to new dealer? or Fight the dealer to change some parts (other than reset or reprogram) e.g On Board Diagnostic System? any suggestion?
Thank you

At this point, I would have the spark plugs changed and get the ECU reset to clear all faults. Then see what happens next. If you suspect the injectors, you could confirm that one is faulty by swapping them around.
Really unless you can do this yourself, you are dependent on the ability of your dealership.

im picking my car up on saturday for exactly the same thing.

It all started before xmas. The car was dipping revs a litttle in traffic so i mentioned it and they wanted to put in a new control program update or something. They called that week and said they had trouble putting the new software in and asked to keep the car an extra day.

When i picked up the car it did the whole light business thing that you describe as i got down the road.

I went straight back and he did a reset and a reprogram and said it was a throttle control problem and he fixed it with the new programming again and it should be fine.

Over xmas period it kept doing it and i had it booked in for the begining of this week.

Thay have changed the control unit comletely and have put a new software program in and everything and tell me its ok so i will let you know when i pick it up!

1666,
Thank you, I guess I have to depend on dealer as I can't do it by myself. I will force them change it next time i visit the dealer (should be soon)

Ben,
Thank you, please let me know how is your car going. Hope to hear good news from you.
