Hi there, From what you have said i think that there maybe something wrong with the regulator (spelling) itself, from what i can remeber the windows have a hole in the bottom of them were the regulator goes to support and move up and down the window, if it has either broken or simply fallen out of its runner this could be the cause of your problem. If it has just come out of its runner then its a 30 min job to rectify if done by a trained machanic (spelling), but if the regulator has broken weather its electrical or something has come apart then this could take longer. I would take it to your local dealer if still under warranty, but if its not under warranty then it MAY be cheaper to go to Autoglass or auto windscreen and they will either fix the problem or replace the parts, you would have to obviously obtain the correct parts that are broken for them to be fit. Then again it could be a computer glitch... keep us updated on this would be interested to know what caused the problem. ![]()

Thanks for your comments. I have phoned my local dealer last night to notify them and they can book me in for it in 2 weeks. A long time without undo-ing the window!! I have just realised that the window does not rise and fall when you open the door. Does this verify any specific problems?

Hi With the window not moving up/down when opening/closing the door, it sounds like either the regulator or window motor has gone. I have had them replaced three times on my cooper (twice passanger side and once on the drivers side) under waranty. Seems to be a common problem with the R53 MINI. Your dealer should be able to determine if it is the regulator or motor or both and replace them.

it will be a warranty job, window motor, happend to my 2005 mcs insist on quick action, or ask them to cover on insurance while you wait for the nxt 2 weeks as you wont be coverd if the car is not secure, or suggest you go to another dealer, and let them pick up the tab, that should get some action all this based on the assumption your mini is less than 3yrs old and you are talking to suppling dealer, otherwise you may need a softer approach good luck ![]() carefree

Agree - I demanded they fix it asap, as the security of the car was compromised - also was concerned as it was putting a strain on the glass - further problems occuring when trying to close the car door.. they did it the next day (they also ended up changing the central electrical control unit ZKE as well, as the motor sorted the gap problem, but not the problem of the windows not 'dropping' when the door was opened and shut) Btw, my work was completed under cherished warranty.. Hope you can get it sorted soon, know how frustrating it all is..
