Funny noise when turning sidelights on

Guys,

Any ideas ...

If I turn the sidelights on with engine off, afor a couple of seconds, something somewhere makes a rumblinng noise - light a "rough sounding" pump. Doesn't do it with the engine on.

it should make a noise when u turn your headlamps on too? like a fireing up sound... All of my mini's have done this. I think it does it when the engines on too but its drowned out.

The noise is the headlights moving when you switch them on.

If you park with the nose of the car pointing towards a wall or garage door in the dark and switch your lights on you will see the beam rise upwards slightly to settle into the normal position.

Do the reverse and you will see them drop slightly.

As SimonSJR has said, you can't hear it with the engine running as the sound is drowned out by the engine, but it still happens!
